Hello there! Before I begin, let me introduce myself. I am a Hymer motorhome (also known as Happy Motorhome - I am on Twitter and everything) and currently 3 years old. My owners hire me out so I get to travel all across Europe- it is a lot of fun. Sometimes, when I am lucky, some pets come along with me and we get to have an adventure together. Let me tell you all about it.
My owners have a dog and they love to go on holiday with him. Their dog (who asked to remain anonymous, so let's call him Spot) also loves to go on holiday with his humans. Spot went to the kennels once, but was not overly keen on it. He was ok, but it was not much fun and he prefers constant love, attention, walks, smells and belly tickles (as I hear many humans also do). I also love attention so I can relate to Spot.
Anyway, I digress. When Spot comes with us on holiday, he has a special cage that is strapped into one of the seats in my living area (he uses a seat belt too, but this requires help from the humans and their opposable thumbs - nifty gadgets if you can get them). There are also seat belts for my younger human owners too (I hear they are called 'kids', like goats). I like to cruise down the motorway, but every now again we stop so that Spot can fully extend his very waggable tail and leak a bit and drink some water. I also get to have a drink from time to time, which is very refreshing. We always visit campsites where Spot is welcome. My owners have a booklet that helps them out, but if you know of any great dog friendly campsites, let me know and I will pass the message on.
We have a great time on holiday, Spot does a lot of running and always bores me with stories of new smells when we are on the way home. Here is a photo of Spot by the way:
For identity-protection reasons, this is not actually a photo of Spot, it was supplied by the kind people at freedigitalphotos.net. Spot is a black labrador, though, and also sits amongst the flowers frequently. He is also 5 years old, so the grey bit on his chin is not unrepresentative at all.
So, the moral of this story is, if you like travelling around and you like your dog, you can combine both interests and hire a pet friendly motorhome. The last bit of that sentence is a funny colour because it is a link. Click on it to search for a motorhome that is Spot-friendly. Have a look now and you might even find that I'm available.
Thanks for reading and enjoy your travels. I've been a happy motorhome and you've been great. :-)
